Nova Austral must also present a complete inventory within 24 hours.
The Aquaculture Stewardship Council has officially suspended Nova Austral’s licensing agreement, following legal proceedings by Chile’s National Service of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Sernapesca) concerning fraud allegations against the company, in addition Nova Austral’s board announced that CEO Nicos Nicolaides will no longer have a role in the company.
Instead, the newly joined COO Francisco Miranda will lead all sales and operations, while Cencosud CFO Nicolas Larco will take the place of CFO Sergio Montenegro Mikkelsen.
In a statement, the ASC has announced that Nova Austral must immediately cease the use of the ASC logo, including halting current sales of products with any relevant trademarks. This includes the use of any product with an ASC chain of custody (CoC) number.
They also demanded a complete inventory of all labeled products within the next 24 hours.
The suspension is not exclusive to products those originating from the fisheries in question, Aracena 3 and 19.
